The trip is all planned and last details are being finalized – Strong Harvest is going to Nicaragua in January to train 30-40 Peer Educators in nutrition and the cultivation and uses of the amazing Moringa tree. These Peer Educators will then train families in their own communities how to improve their health by growing Moringa in their own backyards! We need your help to fully fund this trip!
We have already raised $3,800 and only need $2,500 more to completely fund this training trip. Your gift of any amount will help us to bring this empowering and life-changing information to people in need. By supporting Strong Harvest, you provide a low-cost, low-tech and highly sustainable solution for families who struggle with poor nutrition, access to clean drinking water and a lack of economic opportunities.
Just $25 will provide 1,000 seeds for SHI to distribute, $50 will provide training for a family of five, and $75 will provide a Peer Educator with training and a kit that supplies everything he or she needs to teach others about basic nutrition and growing and using Moringa. For the cost of a family dinner at a restaurant in the U.S., you can provide good nutrition to others for a lifetime! That is an amazing impact for such a small investment. You can easily donate right on our website.
During our January trip, we will be training Peer Educators from 4 different locations in Nicaragua:
- El Faro church in Managua
- El Faro church in Tipitapa
- Villa Esperanza in Managua
- Luz y Vida Church in Leon.
We will also meet with leaders from other organizations to explore the possibility of bringing Peer Educator training to their areas. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive time in Nicaragua!
Your donation makes a huge difference = families receive good nutrition, clean water and economic opportunities for a lifetime, and you not only receive a much needed tax deduction, but also the knowledge that you have empowered families to sustainably meet their own most basic needs. What could be better than that? Please donate today!
Jerri and Rick,
I just got an email about this and wondered who it could be from. As soon as I started reading about it, my mind went directly to y’all! This website looks awesome and this trip to Nicaragra looks like it’s coming along. I feel like since ECHO, moringa has been everywhere. When I went to Honduras this summer, the missionaries I stayed with ate Moringa everyday (which means I did too!). This fall semester I started a research project at my school on the antibacterial effects of two species of Moringa (M. stenopatela and M. oleifera). There has been some interesting results! Also, I heard about a doctor in Haiti that uses Moringa to treat stomach ulcers (caused by a bacteria, not stress).
I just feel like God has provided us with a superplant to help alleviate poverty and world hunger, but also combat diseases! He is an awesome and powerful God. I hope y’all are doing well and prayers are definitely being lifted up on the work y’all are doing.
Yui
Hi Yui!
It’s so great to hear from you! We agree, we are seeing moringa everywhere, too! People are really starting to understand its incredible health benefits. The more we can teach people how to grow and use it for themselves, the more control people will have over their own health.
We are very interested in the research you are doing on the antibacterial effects of moringa. Please keep in touch and let us know the outcome and also let us know if there is any way that we can help you in your research. When we all work together, we can do so much more than we can alone!!
Blessings to you and your family,
Rick and Jeri
