^ Groups from other communities and even representatives from the Malawi government (pictured) continue to visit Timbenao to see the community’s progress in improving food security and sustainable livelihoods.
We are grateful that our supporters are making meaningful progress possible in Malawi! This year, two practical tools are helping Strong Harvest’s work go farther: a motorcycle expanding Moshi’s reach and a solar-powered irrigation system helping families grow more food.
Reaching More Communities
In March, several Strong Harvest supporters provided funds for Field Partner Moshi’s motorcycle (pictured), including fuel and maintenance. Local supply shortages delayed the purchase, but Moshi finally received it in early June.
Just two days later, he traveled 21 km from Timbenao Village to meet leaders from three communities that had been asking him to visit. Later that month, he traveled 32 km to Maikolo Village (pictured) and distributed 3,000 planting tubes and 2 kg of moringa seeds to help establish a community nursery.
Thanks to the motorcycle, Moshi can now bring moringa education to new, distant communities, spreading health and hope even further.
The First Entirely Irrigated Crop
The Timbenao solar-powered irrigation system was installed in August 2025 and has greatly improved crop yield for the community.
In mid-September 2026, families celebrated a very special harvest. Conditions were too dry for this maize crop to grow without irrigation. For the first time, the solar pump solely supported the maize through the entire growing cycle – from planting to harvest. There was tremendous joy as families saw what the system made possible!
Community members will sell some of the maize and keep the rest to feed their families, helping address food insecurity while creating income opportunities.
Thank You!
The motorcycle and solar pump are more than equipment – they are tools helping Moshi and his team to equip more people to thrive.
Thank you for supporting Strong Harvest and for being part of the work helping families in Malawi to build a stronger future!
Gratefully,
Megan, and the Strong Harvest team
